There is nothing soft about “soft skills.” We diminish the value of skills such as empathy, adaptability, persuasion, and effective decision-making when we mislabel them as soft skills, which implies, they are optional.
They are not.
We look for these qualities in our managers, co-workers, and personal relationships. So, they aren’t soft in the least.
It’s time to call them what they indeed are – real skills.
