RAS #621 - Brave New World

On this episode of Ron’s Amazing Stories we present a tale that should shock you. Brave New World was written by English author Aldous Huxley in 1931. It took the world by storm, but not everyone was happy about it. In fact, it is one of the most banned novels on record.  The story is set in a dystopian future where society is controlled by a totalitarian government. People are born in test tubes and conditioned from birth to be happy and obedient. There is no freedom, no individuality, and no dissent. The protagonist of the story is a young man named John who is born outside of the system. He is raised in the countryside and learns about the true nature of the world. When he is brought to the city, he is shocked by what he sees. He cannot believe that people would give up their freedom for a life of comfort and conformity. John's story is a cautionary tale about the dangers of totalitarianism. It is a warning about what can happen when we allow the government to control too much of our lives. A Brave New World is a powerful and thought-provoking novel that is still relevant today. It is a story that everyone should hear, even if it makes them uncomfortable. Featured Story - Brave New World Our featured story was first published by Chatto & Windus in August of 1932. It is a novel by English author Aldous Huxley. What we will hear is the radio adaptation done by CBS Radio Workshop. The author himself does the narration and the quality of the recording is amazing! It is titled Brave New World and it first aired on January 27, 1956.  Ron’s Amazing Stories Is Sponsored by: Audible - You can get a free audiobook and a 30 day free trial at . Emma did solve part of the puzzle but not without experiencing troubles of her own. There are many twists and turns to be had - Bad dreams, whoaful luck, broken bones, and disembodied voices. What started as a new doll for a collection has ended up with more questions than answers. On the show this week Slyvia, Emma and I will give you at least a few of those answers. About Sylvia Shults:  Sylvia  is a Librarian, Author, and Ghost Hunter. She has spent a lifetime in the pursuit of the weird and strange. RAS #617 - Cold Equations

Ron's Amazing Stories is a captivating podcast that combines the love for audiobooks, storytelling, and listener submissions. In this episode, Ron shares his passion for mystery fiction, recommends a thrilling science fiction audiobook, and features listener-submitted adventure stories. One of the highlights of the episode is Ron’s recommendation of The Downloaded by Robert J. Sawyer. Set in the year 2059, this science fiction audiobook takes listeners on a journey where survivors of a global cataclysm face the imminent threat of an asteroid collision. Ronald's enthusiasm for this book is evident as he describes the immersive experience created by the narration and the innovative use of Dolby Atmos technology. The podcast also showcases the power of storytelling through listener submissions. Ron shares a chilling tale of a doppelganger encounter, which was submitted by a dedicated listener. This segment allows the audience to become active participants in the podcast, fostering a sense of community and engagement. Featured Story - Cold Equations Our featured story is a fascinating bit of science fiction. If you are familiar with the first space flights of the 1950’s you know just how important fuel conservation was. You were allowed so many burn-cycles before the mission was a failure. But what if the mission only allowed for failure? What if there was only enough fuel for one outcome and hundreds of lives depended on it? That is the premise of the tale Cold Equations. It first aired on X-Minus One in August of 1955. Other Stories Include - Blood On My Hands, Review - The Downloaded, Why are you just standing there, That’s My Name, Cold Equations, and Johnny Is It True - Santiago Ron’s Amazing Stories Is Sponsored by Audible - You can get a free audiobook and a 30 day free trial at . On Ron’s Amazing Stories we are going to have some fun with science! I will review the audiobook A Grown-Up Guide to Planet Earth. Then it is Bigfoot week. We have three stories from you that are all about the big guy. We end the show with a story from the 1950s pulp magazine scene titled Invasion. If you were to judge this story by the title you might think that this is your typical alien conquering story. That is not what we have. This is a fresh look at an old story. So, press that play button to enjoy the show. Featured Story - Invasion Our featured story comes from the pages of Super-Science Fiction October edition 1958. RAS #606 - The Man Who Stole A Planet

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this time we review the halloween audiobook, A Night In The Lonesome October. Then we will hear three new listener stories on These Are Your Stories. Our featured story is about a man and his bid to steal a whole planet! And we will end the show with the story about World War II super spy Juan Garcia. So if that sounds amazing press that play button. Featured Story - The Man Who Stole A Planet Our featured story for this week comes from the series Quiet Please. This is one of the more strange stories I have heard from the show. A man collects bodies in his freezer, but he is not a serial killer, or an evil man. Or is he? It is titled The Man Who Stole A Planet and it first aired on July 26, 1948. Program Note: Our story today was in pretty sad shape. I have wanted it on the show in the past, but lacked the skill to restore it. However, I took another go at it and this is what I came up with. While far from perfect it can be followed. I highly recommend that you listen to it with headphones. Other Stories Include - Three Scarlet Letters, A Night in the Lonesome October, The shaking, My Mother Sees Dead People, The Night Of The Bagman, The Man Who Stole A Planet, and Not So Important Times In History - Juan Garcia.   Ron’s Amazing Stories Is Sponsored by: Audible - You can get a free audiobook and a 30 day free trial at   and - Good Treats for your dog to eat.
