In this episode of The Invisible Woman Podcast, we speak with Ruth Russell in Adelaide. Ruth shares her stories from her time working as a public servant in the 80's, how she has kept herself busy in retirement and how she feels about the standard to which women are held in public life.
This is a special edition of The Invisible Woman Podcast, where we had a group of six women from different walks and stages of life get together to have a chat about invisibility, sexuality and motherhood. Listen as Carley Bishop, Voula Stamatakis, Johanna Kelders, Despina Merambeliotis, Marizelle Stein and Veronica Gauci share their experiences of invisibility and the influence of intersectionality on how they experience life.
Last November the Just Gold team attended Newkind Conference, a conference designed to inspire and empower participants to build a better world. We had a chance to speak with some participants and presenters on the invisible woman syndrome, including guest speaker Dr Anastasia Hronis who is a clinical psychologist and founder of the Australian Institute for Human Wellness, and participants Annabel Rattigan, Program Leader at High Resolves and Natasha Wooley, Marketing and Communications Manager at High Resolves.
Last November, the Just Gold Team attended Newkind conference, A conference designed to inspire and empower participants to build a better world. We had a chance to speak with some participants and presenters on the Invisible Woman Syndrome, including Nova Peris OAM, who attended New Kind as a guest speaker. Nova Peris was Australia's first aboriginal woman elected to federal parliament as a senator for the Northern Territory. She was also the first aboriginal Australian and Northern Territorian to win an Olympic gold medal. We talked to Nova about her hopes and fears for women over 50 and more specifically her biggest fears for Indigenous women over 50 as they grow older. The Just Gold team will be attending Newkind Conference again in November, 2022. We hope to see you there. If you have your own story to share for the Invisible Woman Podcast, we'd love to hear from you. Get in contact at justgoldwomen.net.
In this episode, we speak with Jeanette Large, CEO of Women’s Property Initiatives, about how the Covid pandemic and subsequent lockdowns affected women’s relationships and homelife, what factors can lead to a woman becoming homeless, and the importance of safe, secure housing for everyone.
Shocking data has revealed how easy it is for seemingly prosperous women to become homeless, which is then exasperated by shame and isolation. What can women do to prevent this from happening to themselves, and what needs to change in society to alleviate this problem all together? Join us as we speak with CEO of the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria, Katherine Ellis. Katherine shares her perspective on the importance of social connection for mental health, and planning for social and financial security heading into older age and retirement.
What can companies do to alleviate the invisibility issue? Why do we need more women in parliament? Join us for this episode of The Invisible Woman Podcast, where we speak with our project convener Jo Cavanagh OAM who talks to us about what businesses need to do to minimise invisibility for their employees, the burden of unpaid caregiving, the need for women in the decision making process and the golden opportunity of women in the media.
In this episode we speak to the Founder of the HerStory Movement of South Australia and Former Adelaide Mayoress, Genevieve Theseira-Haese. She explores the powerful untold stories of women uncovered by the HerStory Movement, as women not only became invisible back then - but nameless. Learning about the life experiences of women in history explains to us why society is the way it is now, and how we can shape a better future for everyone. We ask Genevieve about the complexities of ageing in our society, and if it differs in the past. She also casts light on the complexities of financial independence as a woman and businesswoman in modern times.
