104. Sister Abhaya: Why this nun’s death was UNSOLVED for 28 years?

Justice delayed is justice denied. This is a phrase embedded within the very being of every judicial system in the world. Or, at least it should be. Yet the essence of this phrase is sometimes hard to live by. Sometimes comes before us a case so shocking yet so convoluted that not years but decades pass by without a shred of justice. Such is the case of a 21 year old nun from Kerala. A woman whose brutal death in 1992 remained unsolved till December of 2020. 101. Did India’s First Crime Show Host Kill his Wife? • Suhaib Ilyasi Murder Saga

This is the story of the man who created India’s first crime show: every week he was on television screens around the nation narrating the exploits of the most devious criminals of the time, until January 10, 2000, when he found himself at the center of a criminal investigation. The difference was, he was no longer researching or hosting this case, but instead living it – in the eyes of the police, the man that covers murder for a living, had just covered up the murder of his own wife. This is the story of how the host of India’s Most Wanted, became one of the most Wanted Men in india. 100. Did India Hang an Innocent Man? Dhananjoy Chatterjee - India

Where do you feel the safest in the world? For most of us, the safest place on Earth will be within the four corners of our home. It is the certainty of intimately knowing your surroundings, with its many variables, that makes us feel safe at home. I know that the ringing of the doorbell at 10 PM is the guard asking me to move my car, or tapping sounds are from a pipe I have procrastinated to get fixed. The chances of something going wrong in my own home is minimal, almost impossible. That’s why when Yashomati Parekh left her daughter home alone in Kolkata, she wasn’t expecting to return to a scene that changed the city forever. This is the story behind India’s first execution post Independence. This is the story of Hetal Parekh. Over the last decade, India has been home to a slew of unexpected, scandalous and devastating suicides with sinister back stories. These suicides, those of Jiya Khan, Pratyusha Banjerjee, Sushant Singh Rajput, Tunisha Sharma and more, weren’t just stories of people who gave up on their lives. They were stories of crime, corruption, power, politics and our country’s criminal underbelly that led these young people to death. Today, we’re covering one such case, a suicide, that shook the country 11 years ago. This is the case of Geetika Sharma and Gopal Goyal Kanda.

96. The Tragic Life of Chamari Liyanage - Sri Lanka

The cases you usually hear on true crime podcasts, the ones we usually cover, have a clear perpetrator and a clear victim. One person is in the wrong, the obvious suspect, the “villain” in the case. One person is innocent, the one who has been wronged and whose justice we long for. But then come cases that flip on their head our conception of wrong or right, good or evil. Today’s story is of one such case. It is a case of a woman, abused, tormented and emotionally tortured until she snapped. This is the story of Dr. Chamari Liyanage.

94. The Singh - Sica Triple Murder - Australia/India

Home. A word that denotes haven, tranquility and family, but it often transforms into a hell for many. Houses are fascinating, take the cement structure of a home that hides away tales and tragedies, musings and maladies, all while standing upright and resolute. From the outside, a house can cast a certain image and connotations. A tin-roofed hut in a slum for example connotes suffering, ailment, a sick child being nursed by an even sicker mother, wreaking sewage. On the other hand, a grand mansion symbolizes prosperity, wealth, grand dinners and children running around the fireplace and a solemn happiness. But that’s not what makes houses fascinating, it is the juxtaposition they offer that does. That slum could very well have a kid studying endlessly under a light bulb while her mother smiles away as she cooks a simple stew. Happiness can easily be found regardless of the exterior. Vis a vis the grand mansion that exudes stature and class can hide behind its walls dark secrets. One such mansion stood on 20 Grass Tree Close, Bridgeman Downs, Queensland Australia. This is the story of its inhabitants and their dark secrets. This is the story of the Singh and Sica family.

92. The Ajmer Rape Scandal - India

Usually, when we cover cases on this podcast, we talk of the stories of a singular victim. A woman raped, a man murdered, a child kidnapped. And that one victim’s story is enough to enrage us; to make us feel sorrow and anger. But what happens when crime organizes itself across a whole city, engulfing more than 500 victims, destroying lives and scarring generations? This is the story of one such crime that has somehow been erased from our common psyche; this is the story of the Ajmer sex scandal.  Sources https://theprint.in/ground-reports/gangraped-in-teens-visiting-courts-as-grandmothers-1992-ajmer-horror-is-an-open-wound/814073/ https://www.quora.com/What-happened-to-the-culprits-of-ajmer-sex-scandal-did-they-got-punishment https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/ajmer/pushkar-resort-firing-accused-waited-for-31-years-to-avenge-dads-death/articleshow/96848921.cms https://www.opindia.com/2023/01/ajmer-serial-rape-and-blackmail-scandal-reappears-slain-journalists-sons-avenge-fathers-murder-after-30-years/ https://www.firstpost.com/india/history-of-ajmer-dargahs-chishti-family-features-gang-rape-blackmail-of-schoolgirls-10912291.html https://pdf.defence.pk/threads/gangraped-in-teens-visiting-courts-as-grandmothers-1992-ajmer-horror-is-an-open-wound.747556/ https://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-ajmer-92-real-story-what-was-horrific-1992-ajmer-gang-rape-case-after-the-kerala-story-new-film-sparks-row-3047243 https://kreately.in/when-nsa-was-invoked-in-rajasthan-history-for-the-first-time-for-a-sex-crime-in-ajmer/ https://www.indiatoday.in/magazine/crime-stories/story/19921015-murder-of-ajmer-daily-editor-exposes-sordid-sex-scandal-involving-criminals-politicians-767014-2012-12-26 https://indianexpress.com/article/india/rajasthan-almost-three-decades-after-a-rape-blackmail-case-rocked-ajmer-surrender-of-an-accused-opens-old-wounds-5076914/ https://archive.ph/20130630024643/http://news.outlookindia.com/items.aspx?artid=746397 https://indianexpress.com/article/india/rajasthan-almost-three-decades-after-a-rape-blackmail-case-rocked-ajmer-surrender-of-an-accused-opens-old-wounds-5076914/ https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/jaipur/main-accused-in-ajmer-sex-scandal-surrenders-after-26-years/articleshow/62938690.cms https://www.youtube.com/live/XoJZdMe9hFo?feature=share

91. Noida University Murder-Suicide - India

“She said that she wanted a break from the relationship. I asked her if I should at least hope that she will come back. She said no because she wanted to stay single for some time and that might change things for her. I could not accept that.” Parse through any teenage highschooler’s diary, and words like these are all too easy to find. Breaks vs break ups, situationships vs relationships, boyfriend vs ex-boyfriend, these duels define adolescence. We’ve all been through some version of it. But as we retrospect, we cringe at that bygone era; of course, we are older now. Now we’re too mature to put up with these silly little dramas. The same insecurities do not haunt us any more? Or do they? Deep down in our psyche, are we still that insecure teenage kid? Some folks just never grow up. And those words you just heard weren’t of a teenager, but a grown man. Sometimes, not growing up, not getting out of the shell of puberty, can have adverse consequences in your adulthood: for you, and for your partner. This is the story of a man still trapped in a teenage drama of his own making, this is the story of Anuj Kumar.  Hello everyone. My name is Anuj Kumar and through this video I’ll tell you about my actions. You’ll find this video after my actions have taken place so watch the whole video and then decide if my actions are justified. Well, you can’t say [they’re] justified because what I’m going to do is not justified by any means. So, let’s start. First, let me tell you a bit about myself. Man, I used to be a really good person. I was a good boy. I never troubled anyone, never said anything to make someone angry. I was really good at studies. I was really good at sports. I was a national level player in athletics. Everything was going perfectly. Then I entered college and there I found a girl named Sneha. She was in her 2nd year, now she’s in her 3rd year, she came into my life and because of her my life took a drastic turn. Before her, I had suffered a lot of pain. I had a sister and she had gotten married, she also had a child, they had a great family and yet she was burnt alive by her husband. I don’t know what her fault was, in this. The only mistake she made was trying to be a good mother. Her son used to be sick most of the time and she used to take care of him. That was the only mistake she made. Yet, she was burnt alive. Then my uncle, last year, he also died due to [a] heart-attack because [his] wife left him. ... Firstly, I ask for forgiveness from her parents but your daughter is not worth calling your daughter. She not worthy of being called a human.  And to my parents, I say the same, if it’s possible, do forgive me. Your son loved a person with an honest heart, cared for that person, never wronged anyone, and worked hard throughout my life, but what happened with him was wrong. I’ll never be able to become a good son but I’ll be a good human after I punish the person who ruined several lives. Goodbye.

89. The Murder of Neeraj Grover - India

Love triangles…a concept in existence for as long as love itself. But love triangles, unlike love, are controversial. They’re viewed as scandalous, calculated, and deceptive. Perhaps that is because we never hear of happy, successful love triangles. We hear of ones where jealousy, competition, ego and possessiveness take over, only to end in a tale of crime and disaster. This is the story of one such disastrous love triangle that kept India on its toes and destroyed three lives. This is the story of Neeraj Grover, Maria Susairaj, and Lt. Emile Jerome Mathew.  Sources https://www.rediff.com/news/slide-show/slide-show-1-maria-susairaj-like-many-others-had-bad-taste-in-men/20111202.htm https://www.amazon.com/Death-Mumbai-Meenal-Baghel/dp/8184000650 https://cherieth.wordpress.com/2012/08/17/a-dangerous-tale-of-love-and-sex-which-eventually-lead-to-murder/ https://forensicgenesis.wordpress.com/2020/07/05/neeraj-grover-murder-case-indias-most-macabre-murder/ https://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/mumbai/other/you-madame-are-my-suspect-number-one/articleshow/16141521.cms https://www.outlookindia.com/national/behind-the-killer-minds-what-makes-a-killer--magazine-243512 https://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/mumbai/other/maria-murdered-grover-i-just-chopped-the-body-matthew/articleshow/15821635.cms https://www.ndtv.com/photos/news/in-pics-the-night-of-neeraj-grovers-murder-10827#photo-135088 http://archive.indianexpress.com/news/grover-murder-navy-officer-was-seeing-another-woman-while-dating-susairaj-say-police/317118/ https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/i-am-innocent-says-maria/article2153118.ece https://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/mumbai/cover-story/bubbly-aur-babli/articleshow/68570863.cms https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/maria-nailed-after-answering-call/articleshow/3094801.cms https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/neeraj-grover-sentence-maria-will-leave-jail-7-more-years-for-jerome-460115

87. The Joshi-Abhyankar Murders - India

Imagine living in a beautiful, peaceful city in India. Life is going well. You have friends, a city you call home, you go to the movies on the weekends, maybe a family lunch date every now and then. Until, one day, you find the movie halls empty, people in their houses before sundown, terror in the eyes of every passerby, and fear in the hearts of thousands furious to lock their doors and windows before going to bed. This was what happened to the beautiful and peaceful city of Pune in 1976 because of a murderous rampage that did not seem to end. This is the story of the four men behind that horrifying murderous rampage. This is the story of the Joshi-Abhyankar serial murders.

86. The Toffee Swindler: Ravinder Kumar - India

“Don’t take candies from strangers.” How simple a teaching; how elegant. But how difficult for a child to resist a sugary delight; an alpenlibe or melody offered to you for free that to before dinner. Which 6 year old could say no? Had this lesson not been inscribed in our head, we too could’ve fallen for this scheme. If you now think how stupid some kids might be to fall prey to this modus operandi of kidnapping, keep in mind, you’re the same person that once upon a time believed in Santa Claus and tooth fairies. This is the story of the man that bitterly exploited the sweet tooth of children, this is the story of Delhi’s Ravinder Kumar.

83. The Murder of Hae Min Lee - Pakistan/USA

You know that feeling of being young and experiencing your first love? Heightened emotions, the constant need to see them yet feeling your heart flutter when you do, that inability to go to sleep or eat, the hiding from your parents, the first touching of your hands, the first kiss, you get the picture. I know a lot of you listening will relate. There are few experiences as universal as your first love. But what happens when your first love disappears and suddenly, the world turns to look at you, wondering whether or not you could have possibly made them vanish? What happens when, then, your first love re-appears…but not alive anymore and suddenly, the world turns to look at you, wondering if you could be a cold blooded murderer? This is the story of one such young love story that captured the imagination of a nation. This is the story of Hae Min Lee and Adnan Syed.
