Because we don’t trust that God will provide for us, we don’t ever rest from our work long enough to let Him. We are ragged and cursed because we don’t receive the blessing of abundance God wants to give. The sabbath is a gift to God’s people that shows God’s power, God’s provision, and God’s care. We must learn to let God do what only God can do, a truth that helps us understand and live out the gospel of God’s work in our redemption. As redemption is a gift, so is rest.
