  1. On the 30th April, a petition was filed by Abu Zubaydah, a Guantanamo Bay internee, against the US, Afghanistan, UK, Poland, Lithuania and Morrocco before the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention. The petition pleads that Abu Zubaydah be released, after 19 years of detention without charge or trial.


  2. Human Rights Watch have recently released a report examining the reality of aPARtheid in Palestinian areas where Israeli authorities exercise control. The report investigates whether the threshold of the criteria of apartheid which is a crime against humanity under the Rome Statute is met in the case of Israel and Palestine.


  3. The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes and the UN Commission on International Trade Law have published a second version of their Draft Code of Conduct for Adjudicators in International Investment Disputes. This updated version provides guidelines related to impartiality, integrity, and fairness during proceedings. Comments on the drafts are welcomed by ICSID and UNCITRAL.


  4. The Cambridge International Law Journal is calling for submissions for Volume 10 Issue 2 on the theme: National Sovereignty and International Cooperation: The Challenges of Navigating Global Crisees’. Articles for Volume 10 Issue 2 must be submitted before 14 May 2021. Submission criteria can be found on the CILJ website.
