Grassing up the Duke

Welcome to the second episode of our intrigue-based D&D 5e campaign. Join us as we argue about insurance on freight forwarding, shop in a high-ranking noble to their monarch, and then dive head first into a mirror known to belong to our arch-enemy… Your classic PC moves basically! We have a slightly unusual start as I had messed up the audio, so there's a voiceover setting the scene (as well as the usual 'previously on') and we get right into the, er, action straight after.

Chickens Returneth to their Roost

Last time our erstwhile heroes triumphed into Saradush having found more in the village than they bargained for. This time they continue the good fight to bring the brigands to justice. Darion's investments in border patrols capture smugglers that provide evidence linking the ol' Breakbones place with the crime, and a helping hand from Danolo tells them one of the Brigand captains will be there as well… They venture ready for a fight, but alas the group lack time because no one can thwart the Demon of Discord Service Down! They do find out the power behind the Brigands… And its as if everyone from their past has decided to come to their present to make scores even!

Before They Were Famous

We depart from our usual free-wheeling, high drama, low quality escapades, for a Christmas Special where we reflect on what has made our protagonists who and what they are now. Each of the players reflects on their character, leads us through their history up to the present day. Along the way we share stories and anecdotes from the game table, much as most roleplaying tables would do. Its clear to see that the energy and commitment that the players bring to the table in their characters is a real hallmark of the campaign, and how that underlying chemistry makes the game more than the sum of its parts. We had three objectives for this recording: __ __ So if you're new to Titles and Troubles, this episode is a good place to start to get a feel for us as players and Diego, Darion and Ox as characters. Oh… And Secret Santa. A slightly contrived, semi-canonical activity where some of the NPCs that have featured in the story receive secret santa gifts from each other. I hope you enjoy watching as much as we enjoyed recording!

“No money, no defending the Realm!”

We return to our usual style of adventuring in this episode, with our heroes picking up in the Spring of DR1492. Their machinations over the winter have started to bear fruit, but they still have the tricksy challenge of what to do about the brigands that are trying to summon hordes of undead under the leadership of Vampiric Breakbones and Valindra "The Real Lich" Shadowmantle. In this episode the crew plan their military campaign, learn about the boundaries of their relationships and finally get into the field.

Another One (Doesn’t) Bite the Dust

Welcome back to Titles and Troubles, the high-level Dungeons and Dragons game where our players get frustrated with the outcomes of their characters' actions! In this episode we attempt the tricky feat of running a small battle in D&D, without either forcing the PCs into "elite commandos" or "boardgame skirmishing"; their combined forces of Dragonborn and Order of the Gauntlet knights meet the Brigands and their undead troops in the field. Its a tale of twists and turns, of not meta-gaming when you aren't meta-gaming and tears before bed-time. Oh and there's also a map that may be useful to have in front of you when the first part of the episode plays out: Hope you enjoy!

The Ogres Were Kung Fu Fighting!

Welcome back to Titles and Troubles, the high-level Dungeons and Dragons game! It's been a while since the last session, but we return to continue the search for the Omladrin Gems. Darion, Diego, Ox and Killeen are at the entrance to the Ogre Mine, when they notice a very precise yellow line heading off deeper into the complex, with a strange pulse of light moving along it. Following this line the encounter a pair of Ogres that fight like Sumo warriors, before taking a left into a strange and muted world. Encountering a pair of alien aberration like creatures, they head back to tackle a well prepared Ogre defense, taking a chance with the Horn of Blasting which blows through the barricade. A short combat ensues, and they advance to a set of double-doors with Dwarven runes embedded in semi-precious stones. Forcing their way in, the session ends as a large, grey, ferocious creature lunges at them and another Ogre in the room finishes casting Mirror Image on itself. Out of the corner of their eye they see a strange geometric map made up of many coloured lines and the lip of what looks like a well. Next session the heroes will be straight into the combat and possibly find out a bit more about this complex and whether it does house what they are after. Hope you enjoy!

Flying the Millenium Weretiger

Welcome back to Titles and Troubles, the high-level Dungeons and Dragons game! We left our heroes about to be engaged by a ravenous hostile beast, and we pick up the action right there. They fight in the usual style, and rescue MÎm, slave of the Ogres and Omladrin Gem-cutter (or so he claims). As is the way with his people, he pledges himself to Ox's service for a year and a day (though Ox tries to act the good Imperial Overlord, MÎm is having none of it). They recover a very small gem and some lenses crafted from Omladrin gems and get some sense of the scale of the Ogre territory before the fun really starts. Aboard their Flying Carpet our heroes duck, dive, twist, barrel role, and spiral around Dragon Fire in their bid to escape the pursuing Ogre Flying Squad. Reinforcements arrive just as it looks tight, and they make it back to Saradush to be greeted by all manner of news. Next time (Friday 24th May 2019, 8:30pm GMT) it is time to go Baneite Hunting. (The Chase rules that were used have been published on this very website http://www.mostly-offtopic.com/rpg/surkazar-run-in-2-hours/) Hope you enjoy!
