Concern and Sympathy
There are many ways we can express concern and sympathy.
We could say:
‘That’s terrible.’
I had a car accident on the weekend.
That’s terrible, are you OK?
‘I am sorry to hear that.’
I can’t come to the party on Saturday night.
I’m sorry to hear that.
‘I know how you feel.’
I’m so upset this morning. I lost my wallet on the way to work.
I know how you feel, that happened to me a few years ago.
‘I hope you feel better soon.’
I’m going to leave early. I’ve got a bad headache.
I hope you feel better soon.
