In this homily, The Rev. Dr. James E. Taylor, Rector of St.
George Episcopal Church, discusses the day’s Gospel in which Jesus is asked which commandment in the law is the greatest. Jesus knew that this question was an attempt to set him up. Jesus tells us that we need to love God and
love our neighbor. This “agape” love means that we are more concerned about others than ourselves. This type of love is a decision we make and an act of will. Fr. Jim encourages us to discern where our treasure is and whether we are practicing agape love.
