In today's bonus episode, I talk about how we have to train ourselves to see everyone as another person. I know it seems odd but how often do you road rage on the "car" in front of you. Give that driver back their humanity and watch the road rage melt away. Well kinda, it helps to build empathy for all those around us. So I was a little scattered and disconnect on this one. I still wanted to share what has been going on the last few days. I had a strange experience with what I have been told is anxiety. Thanks so much for sticking with me while we take a detour from our regular content.
Everything's zen... I don't think so! After going to the doctor and talking to a councilor only a couple times I feel like I should be better. I, in my head, have made it out like everyone expects that as well. Maybe it should be and I'm just that messed up!
As we go through our day there is one thing that keeps us going. Hope. Hope is what makes you put one foot in front of the other. When it is gone so is that light at the end of the tunnel.
It often feels like we are at war with our emotions. We fight to keep our anger under control. We fight to not fall back into old patterns. When we can focus on this battle alone it seems doable. When our energy is split between many emotions it can feel overwhelming
There are two ideas in Buddhist philosophy I have used both to help me in my journey. I thought I would share them with you. No matter your faith or beliefs these ideas can be very helpful. FYI, I am not trying nor do I want to convert you to any other beliefs.
I know has been awhile since my last episode. I apologize for that. In this episode I share what has been going onto cause that absence. I also share a story about a HUGE fight my wife and I had. It's not all bad though, I did learn something about myself in that moment. I will share with you what I learn and maybe you can learn from it as well.
“Liquid Courage” as it is often referred can play a huge role in anger. There are certain predictable things that will happen when we drink alcohol. It is not the best for ourselves or our anger to mix the two. I talk about some of the things that we can experience when we drink while angry.
We often confuse the cause of our anger with the stimulus for our anger. We need to separate our anger from what we think is the cause if we ever want to really learn to handle it in a healthy way. Today I talk briefly about REBT therapy and irrational beliefs. Join me on my Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/thatangerpodcast

When we read any story, myth, poem, limerick, whatever about a hero they all have a very similar structure. This structure can show us a pretty accurate view of what our journey will be as we work with our anger. When we are in the grip of fear and stress it can manifest as anger. When it does it can cause us to be ashamed of ourselves. To shut down and resist admitting we are wrong. Join me on my new Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/thatangerpodcast

This time we talk about the long journey she and I took as I learned to handle my anger, let go of my control, and come to grips with the abuse I put her through. I, for a long time, felt that anger was a very useful and valuable emotion. I have changed that idea some over the last few months. I think that real power for change lies in compassion. Join me on my new Patreon page. Find the video for this episode there. https://www.patreon.com/thatangerpodcast

This episode originally was part of my YouTube Channel. I want to share it here because this is great information. When you start to feel anger well up it can help to have a word, phrase, or something to bring that energy back down. I share a way to help give our mind just a moment to stop and reframe our anger. It can only take a second to choose to either go full rage or full understanding. If we have something to help us get that moment it can be invaluable.
This episode originally was part of my YouTube Channel. I want to share it here because this is great information. Some often I hear others say they just ignore anger. They don't allow it to exist. This is very dangerous. Our anger will manifest itself no matter how hard we suppress it. The healthy way is to acknowledge the anger and allow yourself to feel it. Then choose a different way to express it. Instead of it consuming us and being destructive it can be healthy in its expression.
This episode originally was part of my YouTube Channel. I want to share it here because this is great information. Self-confidence starts with self-acceptance. The only way to truly get a grip on anger is to learn to love yourself just as you are. Then you can learn to accept others. Our anger is so often a reflection of how we view ourselves.
This episode originally was part of my YouTube Channel. I want to share it here because this is great information. Here is one of my favorite ways to work with my anger. I use the power of neuroplasticity to help rewire my brain. I literally change the pathways that anger follows. This is a very useful way to teach yourself a different way to engage when your anger starts to arise.
This episode originally was part of my YouTube Channel. I want to share it here because this is great information. Here I will introduce you to two key definitions that will be very important going forward. I will offer a new definition of anger and violence.
