This Song is about WHAT!?! - Frankie Goes to Hollywood - "Relax"

rguably no music group had a bigger 18-month run than Frankie Goes to Hollywood in 1984 - no one. They dominated both music, the news, and pop culture - the world was their oyster, and in just two years,  they were gone.   Join Q and Tim as they dive into the iconic 80s hit, "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Would it be a hit if released in today's music landscape, despite the overt sexual innuendo and being banned by the BBC before it was even released? This hit, produced by the hottest producer of the moment,  Trevor Horn, conquered 1984 and skyrocketed an obscure group of lads from Liverpool to global sensations. From analyzing the lyrics and production to examining the cultural context of the time, this episode provides a thought-provoking discussion on the enduring appeal of this classic and controversial song, which spawned a fashion craze with T-shirts and defined the 80's musical landscape. How California CHOSE to Become a Haven for Criminals, Drugs & Homeless.

California - by CHOICE - has become a haven for criminals. Through choices by the legislature,, and votes of the people - funded by the wealthy elite - CA has now turned the “criminals” into the “victims” and the law-abiding into collateral damage. Today we have an explosive interview on crime in California with Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig. The 18-year DA of the county next door to the California State capitol, Reisig has been around to see a change in California's regards to crime… for the worse! He and Q talk about how crime has gotten worse and who is to blame - the years of politicians in Sacramento who have empowered non-profits in league with billionaires who want to fundamentally reshape California. Learn why and how California created a culture of lawlessness, who is to blame, and how this long-serving DA thinks we can fix it.  -  Welcome to the Quintana Show. Roger Kibbe – The Very Twisted I-5 Strangler

Today we bring you the very twisted Roger Kibbe, the I-5 Strangler. What’s interesting here is that there is a very long period of time where Kibbe seems to simply disappear before he reappears with a horrific murderous frenzy. The question for law enforcement has always been: how many victims did he have during that “dark period” – for all we know, given the mind-blowing rate of his murders once he re-surfaced, he could very well be CA’s most prolific serial killer. What we do know is that during the 1980s the I-5 Freeway around Sacramento was his very literal hunting ground. He narrowly slipped away from the cops twice, using his unsuspecting cop brother to try and evade detection and it even took the advent of DNA testing for him to finally admit to more than one murder. Q usually likes to find something interesting in each killer but here there was nothing but a monster whose evil deeds were visited on him in the end.  Welcome to the Quintana Show. Q has spent years in the political world so he knows how to ask questions. From Forgotten Softcore Movie Soundtrack to the Greatest Earworm EVER Mahna-Mahna

How a softcore porn soundtrack composer, teamed up with the “The Good, The Bad & The Ugly” movie theme whistler, get a boost from a comedian from the ’40s, and then get boosted by The Muppets to create one of the greatest earworms… EVER. And as earworm-y as the song is… its creator had zero idea of what he had created. Back in the 1960s pornography was illegal in most of the world so creative people made “nature documentaries'' featuring nudists, among other things, and “Viva la Sauna Svedese” or “Hooray for the Swedish Sauna” was written by Italian composer Piero Umilani for a 30-second clip of Swedish women walking into a sauna. He then threw it into a file of the music he had created for the movie and sold it to a company that wanted U.S. rights. He had so little regard for it he didn’t even note its inclusion, and that’s where its crazy journey to becoming the greatest earworm of all time takes off!  -  Welcome to the Quintana Show. Even if you saw the original, you will want to see this as it’s completely re-structured to assist in the storytelling.  Remix 3: The Batgirl Killer: Pretty Evil  One of the most genius individuals Q has ever come across also happens to be a cold-blooded murderer. This is such an amazing story because you witness how despite how smart and organized a person may be – evil is evil. That was the story of Michelle Cummiskey, the Batgirl Killer. Investigating Detective John Cabrera walks us through the crime, his investigation, the needle in a haystack way in which she was caught, and his impressions of her. Was Jeffery Epstein a Government Construct - That They Couldn't Control?

Who was Jeffery Epstein? Despite the outrage and scandal we actually know almost nothing about this monster. As Eric Weinstein recently pointed out, Epstein was a currency trader with no clients, no recorded trades, and no evidence of where his money even came from. Where are the forms, tax returns, or passports? It’s as if Epstein appeared out of nothing, lived his life leaving no evidence, and then was taken out when he became a liability. Was he the ultimate foreign government construct – a monster they created, but in the end, could not control? …. Listen as Q and Mike debate.

George Harrison: Most Overrated Guitarist Ever!?!

George Harrison was the “Quiet One” of the Beatles and may have been Tim’s favorite as a kid. But the dirty secret is George was an extremely mediocre guitar player: the solo on Taxman (and quite a few other Beatles songs) was played by Paul McCartney because George couldn't nail it in the studio. George became a good songwriter and introduced pop music to instruments like the sitar. But as a guitar player, George Harrison is massively overrated.

How an Anarchist Punk Band Created a Timeless Raucuous Anthem: "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba

In November of 1997, Titanic opened as a smash hit, and Seinfeld and ER ruled the airwaves. The music charts were filled with slow, sappy, forgettable songs - except the song that hit #6. "Tubthumping" by the dyed-in-the-wool anarchist punk band, Chumbawa was a pounding sports/drinking anthem that still reverberates through stadiums today. But the story is so much cooler - learn how an anarchist collective that was formed in 1983 with the goal of destroying capitalism created a multi-million selling hit in 1997, used the money to fuel their political passion projects, and then walked away as happy as can be. CA’s Non-Profit Scam. How to Make Millions and NOT Solve a Problem

Fentanyl is a poison and a scourge in California and the only solution the Assembly Committee on Public Safety can see is to (drum roll) throw  money at it.  Here’s the problem with that: once people and organizations start to get money to solve a problem they don’t want to actually solve the problem because then the money river will dry up.   Q and Mike have seen this with homelessness, affordable housing, and countless other “good causes - and sadly suspect the same thing will happen with fentanyl. The Most Sampled Song Ever! The Amen Break Tragedy

In 1969 a pretty-much forgotten R&B group called The Winstons released a hit single called “Color Me Father,” it went to #7 in the pop charts and won the R&B Grammy for Single of the Year.  But it was the of that single that changed music history. “Amen Brother” was the B-side and it had a drum break that over time took on it’s own life and became the foundation for thousands of songs.  Sampled officially over 6000 times (and the true numbers are probably uncountable), most famously as the backbone of NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton”, Q explains the sad and tragic history behind the man that created the most sampled break in music history: the Amen Break.

Cutting Through: Could the Democrats be Headed for a 1968 Problem?

Are the Democrats headed for a 1968 Convention problem? Mike and Q review the latest in the current presidential race by looking back at 1968 when the incumbent dropped from the race only months before the convention and the chaos that ensued. Mike only gives it a 25% max chance that President Biden doesn’t run, but if he doesn’t and waits too late to announce - history could be revisited. In March of 1968, LBJ blindsided his staff, party, and the country by announcing that he wouldn’t seek reelection months before the Democratic party nominating convention in Chicago. Because it was so late in the process it caused chaos and riots in/at the convention and the Dems ended up handing the Oval Office to Richard Nixon. Q and Mike hope Joe Biden doesn’t make the same mistake.  -  Welcome to Cutting Though from the Quintana Network. CA Sen. Shannon Grove Talks Overcoming the “Public Safety” Cmte to Fight Child S*x Trafficking Industry

We have a VERY special guest today, California State Senator Shannon Grove from Bakersfield, California. Barely over 24 hours after Senator Grove pulled back the curtain on what “public safety” really means in the California Legislature. Her bill, SB14, would increase penalties for repeat sex trafficking of minors. Seems like a no-brainer, right? But the bill died in committee, as Democrats played politics with “public safety,” only to be revived the next day after massive public outrage. Senator Grove explains what happened in the room, why the bill is still alive, what pivotal role Gov.
