- A man is behind bars this morning after an hours-long standoff with KCSO deputies in Rosamond.This is what the scene looked like last night.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office says deputies were sent to this home for a report of a restraining order violation.
However, deputies say a man -- identified as 24-year-old Joseph Nelson -- refused to come out and barricaded himself inside a room.
You can see several emergency vehicles were on scene during this time... as deputies asked the public to stay away.
The man eventually walked out of the home hours later... and was taken into custody on several charges. - This morning we know the name of the man who was shot and killed by a KCSO deputy this week. The coroner says 53-year-old Cole Jackson Hughes of Bakersfield was killed in the shooting.
Deputies say they initially responded to a report of domestic violence at a home on Beardsley Avenue on Sunday.
KCSO says Hughes was armed with a deadly weapon when deputies arrived...
One deputy shot Hughes.
He was taken to the hospital where he died.
No one else was hurt. - A Bakersfield man has been arrested in connection to a December shooting that left a woman dead. Police have announced the arrest of 34-year-old Dontrel Jackson.
The shooting happened at a home on Evanston Court.
Court documents say it all started when the mother of Jackson's child -- Venesha Hanks -- caught him in bed with another woman.
Jackson says he heard his window open and grabbed a gun and shot Hanks, killing her.
Jackson is now facing a number of charges... including involuntary manslaughter and domestic violence. - At least one person is in critical condition this morning after a crash in southwest Bakersfield. Take a look and you can see the aftermath of the wreck.
From the damage... it appears to have been a head-on collision.
This happened yesterday morning at the intersection of White Lane and Gosford Road.
Northbound lanes of Gosford Road were closed for a period of time after the crash.
