This is just a short message to tell you that The Daily Lectionary podcast has come to an end.
It is a two-year cycle, and I began recording in April 2020, about a month after COVID-19 hit the USA. The website came later, and some of the early months are missing there.
I started the podcast because I wanted some way to people to have some sense of routine and normalcy in their lives — including myself. This seemed like a good way to do it.
The problem, of course, is that podcasts don’t tend to be very communal. I have almost no idea how many people listened on a regular basis. I received a few emails from people about the podcast, which was nice, but never had a good sense if this was even worth doing.
At the end of the day, it was a lot of work, and I have other projects that I want to devote that time to instead. I tried to find some way to make the podcast ‘perpetual’ since it’s a repeating, two-year cycle, but I could not figure out how to do that without a lot of continued work by me.
So it is time to shut down the project. I would ask that if you enjoyed the podcast, you might keep it in your podcast app. Maybe someday there will be something else here, or I’ll figure out a way to revive it without doing a lot of manual work.
In the meantime, I pray God’s blessing on you all.
Thanks for listening.
