123: Camilla Brinkworth: Transforming Lives Through Veganism and Plant-Based Living

In a world filled with various dietary choices, the decision to embrace a vegan lifestyle is often more than just a change in what's on your plate; it's a profound transformation that touches every aspect of your life. For Camilla Clare Brinkworth, this transformation has been nothing short of extraordinary. Camilla's journey to veganism began with a deep sense of compassion for animals and a growing awareness of the environmental impact of our dietary choices. She realized that choosing to be vegan was not just about what she was eating; it was about adopting a holistic philosophy that aligned with her values of kindness, sustainability, and overall well-being. Chronic pain was a constant companion in Camilla's life until she decided to make the switch to a whole food plant-based diet. Within weeks of going vegan, she experienced a remarkable reduction in her pain levels, particularly in her neck, where she had been suffering from arthritis. The pain that had once been a daily burden gradually disappeared, leaving her with a newfound sense of freedom and vitality. But the benefits of veganism didn't stop there. Camilla's mood improved significantly as she continued to incorporate more plant-based foods into her diet. She transitioned from being an unhappy individual to waking up every day with gratitude and joy. Her baseline became one of positivity, and she couldn't be happier with the transformation. Today, Camilla Brinkworth is not only an advocate for veganism but also a living testament to its transformative power. She embraces a lifestyle that prioritizes non-cruelty to animals, environmental sustainability, and individual health. Her journey showcases the incredible potential for change that lies within each of us. Camilla is also passionate about raising awareness of sustainable alternatives to traditional dietary choices, such as aji flower oil, which she believes can revolutionize the way we approach health and nutrition. 119: Plant Exclusive Culinary Wisdom with Jason Demchok

In this episode of the Plant-Based Eating for Health podcast, I have the distinct pleasure of talking with Jason Demchok, a chef and lifestyle medicine enthusiast who shares his personal journey towards a whole food plant-based diet.  Jason shared how meeting with Dr. Lou, an MD with expertise in environmental toxins and hormones, changed his life by recommending a plant-based diet. This conversation highlights the power of lifestyle medicine and the importance of making conscious food choices for our health.  In particular, the episode focuses on the benefits of fermenting vegetables for improved gut health and overall well-being. Fermentation is an age-old process that has been used for over 8,000 years to preserve vegetables by selectively breeding probiotics that protect food from bad bacteria. Jason explains that fermenting creates a whole ecosystem of bacteria inside the food, which can lead to improved gut health, digestion, and nutrient absorption.  Fermenting is also an easy and fun process to learn, and Jason encourages listeners to try fermenting at home. He even offers a free lesson to anyone who contacts him after listening to the podcast. Jason and I discuss the harmful effects of consuming animal products and processed foods, and the importance of incorporating a variety of colorful vegetables in one's diet.  We touch on the addictive nature of cheese, the harm caused by dairy farming, and the role of food manufacturers in creating products that are designed to be addictive. The conversation emphasizes the importance of the microbiome and how plant-based diets can heal the gut. To start a basic plant-based diet, Jason recommends beginning with greens, organic beans, apples, and cucumbers. He also recommends using whole food dressings such as tahini and balsamic vinegar.  If you're interested in trying your hand at fermenting vegetables, Jason recommends using mason jars with fermentation tops, which are available on Amazon. He emphasizes the importance of cleanliness when fermenting and recommends using organic vegetables for the best results. This episode of the Plant-Based Eating for Health podcast highlights the power of fermenting vegetables for improved gut health and overall well-being. By adopting a whole food plant-based diet and incorporating fermented vegetables into your meals, you can take control of your health and enjoy the benefits of a healthier gut. So why not give it a try? https://veganvisibility.com/119-jason-demchok/

101: Reversing the Aging Process with a Whole Food, Plant-Based, Vegan Diet

Obesity, cancer, and high blood pressure were only a few of the conditions Linda Middlesworth was living with when a chance meeting with a neighbor she barely knew would change Linda’s life forever. At the age of 44, Linda had grown accustomed to not feeling well. Not sure where to turn for help, she confided in her new friend while walking their dogs at a local park. “Check out Dr. McDougall’s work,” her friend advised. Eager to feel better, Linda picked up a copy of THE MCDOUGALL PLAN: 12 DAYS TO DYNAMIC HEALTH. Immersing herself in the book, Linda took the information to heart. Within a few days of implementing Dr. McDougall’s information, Linda began to feel better. The first to admit she was 100% on target, once she adhered to Dr. McDougall’s protocol she lost 50 pounds, reversed her high blood pressure and cancer, and had a completely new lease on life. Fast forward 34 years. Linda Middlesworth is a force to be reckoned with. Her passion for the vegan lifestyle goes beyond her own health. She is a vegan mentor and very committed to animal advocacy. V-DOG IS BORN Realizing dogs were being subjected to a decline in their health due to the poor quality of most off the shelf dog brands, Linda and her late husband knew there had to be a better way to feed dogs. In 2005, their dream became a reality and v-dog was born. V-dog was the first vegan dog food company in the USA and remains a family owned, vegan business to this very day. www.v-dog.com NO STONE UNTURNED An in-demand vegan lifestylist, Linda keeps busy speaking and lecturing at schools, universities, churches, state agencies, and libraries as well as appearing on podcast shows. They're Killing Our Children

Over the past decade, there has been a marked decline in the health of our children as well as an increase in obesity. According to the CDC, in 2018, the prevalence of obesity was 19.3% (14.4 million) children and adolescents. As well, obesity percentages increase with age and race. It’s well documented that obesity puts anyone at a much higher risk for highly preventable diseases. Children are innocent victims with the prevalence of profits over people initiatives by the food industry. With food manufacturers continuing to produce unhealthy choices for consumers, this has had a major trickle-down impact on the overall school lunch programs throughout the United States. While many parents are not even aware of how unhealthy the school food programs actually are, one woman who is on a mission to change the way children are fed in schools is Maria Solanki. Trying a number of ways to have an impact, including completing a 500-page charter school application that took years to completed due to the complexity of the research involved, Maria turned the denial of the application as fuel for her life’s work; improve the food selections within the school system in her area. From a concerned mother to a political candidate, Maria is merely scratching the surface of the changes she plans to be a part of through her political platform. http://www.mariaforstudents.com
