  • an update on Kern's homeless crisis. 
        Dozens of people are back on the street this morning after being arrested during an encampment sweep in Old Town Kern.
        The sweep is drawing polarizing opinions.
        Some say it is just making the homeless crisis worse.... while others say strategical sweeps can be the solution.
        17's Cecilia Trevino has the story.
  • In an effort to combat the homeless crisis here in Kern County... a local nonprofit is getting a big check from the feds -- worth 9 million dollars.Hanford representative David Valadao secured the funds last week in the passage of a new bill in congress.
        You can see him checking the site -- with Open Door members -- for an impending homeless shelter. 
        Open Door says the project will be "truly transformative."
        No yet on when the new shelter is expected to break ground. 
  • A man is under arrest this morning in connection to a stabbing in Southwest Bakersfield. The stabbing happened just after midnight yesterday on Morrison Street.
        Polie say a man was arrested on charges of attempted murder. 
        No word yet on the condition of the victim, or what led up to the stabbing. 
        The man is due in court tomorrow. 
  • An investigation is underway following a deadly crash in Rosamond. 
        It happened yesterday morning on West Rosamond Boulevard... near Frontage Road. 
        Details on the crash are still limited... but investigators say a semi-truck was involved. 
        The person who died has not been identified as of newstime.
