About

•Albert A. Goodson and his twin brother were born 1933 in Los Angeles, California had no idea what legacy he would leave Gospel Music and the world.  Almost every church around the world has sung his most famous hymn “We’ve Come This Far By Faith”.

•When he wrote the song, he said it was one of the lowest times in his young life and he was feeling home sick.  The lyrics and music flowed through him, so he felt that it was definitely a message from the Lord.

•Albert Goodson did not know what he wanted to do other than do something in music as a child.  After discovering the beauty in hearing choirs sing and mainly inspired by The Sallie Martin Singers.  He begun singing and getting training from J. Earle Hines and Gwendolyn Cooper-Lightner.

•Albert served as pianist for many – but wrote his hit song while as Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, IL under the Pastor, Rev. Clay Evans.  He also played for The Sallie Martin Singers,
Mahalia Jackson and several other Gospel pioneers/stars.  As well as directed multiple choirs.
