Andy & Randy were joined by 92.9 The Game Atlanta Falcons Reporter Joe Patrick and the three of them talked about Marcus Mariota’s play for the Falcons through the first two weeks of the year and when it might be time for rookie Desmond Ridder to get his shot as the starting quarterback in Atlanta.

Patrick says there are two main reason why it’s too early for the Falcons to start Desmond Ridder at quarterback.

“The head coach Arthur Smith has an obligation to play the quarterback that’s going to give the team the best chance to win - at this point in the season. You are only 2 games in and you have to have the buy-in from the players,” Patrick replied when asked about the Falcons starting quarterback situation.

“And then the other thing I would say is that throwing Desmond Ridder in at this point might not be the best thing for Desmond Ridder. You don’t want to throw in a player who is unprepared to play at this point in the season. Remember this is only his second experience you know going through an actual regular season NFL game day,” Patrick added.

“I think it’s a delicate situation. I definitely do want to see Desmond Ridder at some point this season and I think we will. I just think it’s too early to get there at this point,” Patrick added.

The Falcons are staying out on the west coast this week as they prepare to take on the Seahawks in Seattle this Sunday at 4:25pm.

You can hear Andy & Randy Monday-Friday from 11a-2p.
