I recently travelled to the United States for the first time. While I was in Los Angeles, I had a serendipitous encounter with an individual whose story blew me away. His life sounded like the plot line for a movie - part Boyz n the Hood, part The Godfather - but this was no fictional tale. This guy had actually lived it. I know, because I verified his stories by checking court documents and speaking to people connected to him.
