Welcome to Episode 23 of the No Conference for Old Men Podcast. After overcoming one-sided officiating and four starters fouling out, Houston beat Texas A&M 100-95 in overtime! The entire roster was needed, and the Cougars received key contributions from some unlikely sources. UH is now 32-4 and headed to the Sweet 16 to face Duke. The Texas A&M win in Memphis would not have happened without key contributions by Ramon Walker (who we all thought was lost for the season) and walk-on Ryan Elvin. It was truly a "survive and advance" game, and now the Cougars will play in Dallas this weekend. So we'll begin this Sweet 16 episode with some thoughts on the 1st two games of the tourney but focusing primarily on the A&M one. Then, we preview the Sweet 16 matchup against Duke while keeping an eye on potential opponents in a possible Elite 8 battle. And we'll wrap up with a re-projection of our brackets with the Final 16 teams left. - No Conference for Old Men is available for free via Spotify / Apple Podcast / SoundCloud / YouTube and GoCoogs.com. Welcome to Episode 22 of the No Conference for Old Men Podcast. The Cougars are now 30-4, the second overall #1 seed of the NCAA Tournament. UH is the top seed in the South Region, and with two wins in Memphis, the Coogs will play the second weekend in Dallas. Though Houston lost a meaningless Big 12 Championship game to ISU by a (very) large margin, the key was getting out of KC without any further injuries and getting the bench players more meaningful minutes. This is our inaugural March Madness episode, so we'll begin with a few thoughts on the Big 12 Championship. Then, we'll spend most of the time discussing the NCAA Draw, zeroing in on the South Region and what we think of Houston's chances. We'll also provide an overall view of each region and how we think things will shake out, and then each of the Old Men will predict our Final 4 participants and winners. - No Conference for Old Men is available for free via Spotify / Apple Podcast / SoundCloud & the GoCoogs.com website; we're also available via the Republic of Football Podcast feed from the folks at Dave Campbell's Texas Football as at their only basketball-centric offering. - Intro / Exit music: Ground Zero provided by FreeBeats.io Learn more about your ad choices.
