About

More than a year had passed till Phuong asked me again to sow a hexagram to interpret her dream about An. Although I have nidanas with Phuong’s family, it was the first time I visited her house. I told Chung and Phuong to introduce me as Chung’s uncle, who stopped by to diagnose Phuong’s mother’s disease, in order to avoid any reaction or prejudice of other people in the house. When we arrived at the house, just as expected from the beginning, Phuong’s mother was seriously ill. I sat at the tea table, waiting for An to ask for more details about Phuong’s dream. Suddenly, the whole house burst into such an unpleasant chemical smell that anyone who accidentally breathed in the smell would feel an uncomfortable burning sensation in the throat. Both the house owners and guests turned pale.
