Kerryn Vaughan - Real men cry

For way too long, toxic masculinity has run rife. Men have been taught to be tough, not to cry, don’t show emotions and all the other damaging rhetoric. They’ve also been subjected to abuse and put downs for showing signs of kindness and warmth. This has to stop. The four men I talk about in this episode are indeed putting a stop to the harmful narrative that causes many men to self-loath and in some cases, take their own life. Mark MacManus, Matt Ferguson, Leigh McDonald and Steven Baker aren’t afraid to cry, and are actively sharing their stories in an effort to support men and others to ask for help and believe in themselves. Essentially they want people to know they are ok just the way they are. Tiffanee Cook - On life, passion, bikes, and music

Tiffanee Cook is a boxer, trainer, epigenetics coach, speaker and host of the podcast ‘Roll With The Punches’, who uncovered her childhood trauma when she stepped into the boxing ring at 29. “Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the face” Tiffanee has learned this as a business woman, performance coach and boxer; from the comfort, predictability and safety provided by the corporate world, to the lessons and let-downs in and out of the boxing ring. Coming to the realisation that, in order to have one’s hand raised in triumph, adversity, discomfort and combat must be navigated. In the face of the messiness of life, do we fight or do we flee? Fuelled by the unexpected. Tiff's exposure to the corporate boxing experience opened her eyes to the connection between our physical, mental and spiritual selves.  It lifted the lid on a world full of opportunities far beyond the one in which she once lived and it paved a path to growth, success, health and above all happiness. Tiff is also the inspiration behind the latest album from Australian rock legend, Mark Seymour and has been honoured with a song dedicated to her. Kerryn Vaughan - Exploring emotions

Emotional Intelligence can be quite an elusive thing. We all think we have it, many don’t, and some excel at it. But what does it really mean? In this episode I discuss how we all have emotions, they are all positive even thought they don’t always feel that way, and that we always have a choice about how we respond.  I talk about how suppressing emotions can make you sick and you will always have leakage, often at the most inconvenient time, and how reacting can create very damaging outcomes. There are 6 questions for you to answer if you feel like digging a little deeper. This episode is not a comprehensive look at emotional intelligence, more so a brief snapshot to inspire more exploration.

Brock Williams - 1000km through rain, hail and hell

Brock Williams is a 4th year chiropractic student who left his home town of Rosedale to pursue his career. But with his heart still back in Rosedale, and a mate with cancer requiring ongoing care, Brock decided to take on a challenge to show his support to his mate Xavier. His big audacious goal was to run 1,000 kilometres from Adelaide to Rosedale and raise money and awareness for children’s cancer, and specifically for the Sony Foundation Australia https://www.sonyfoundation.org. Brock raised $45,000 which is estimated to help up to 300 families with away from home accommodation while supporting their loved one in hospital. While crossing the finish line in his beloved home town was as grand as a king’s homecoming, the challenges he faced along the way were not so wonderful. Multiple physical injuries and unkind weather conditions, also left Brock also battling the mental demons until he finally overcome all that was thrown at him and glided through the final few days Brock’s ultimate message to anybody who’ll listen, is that he’s just an ordinary guy who found something bigger than himself to care about, and with meaning and purpose, we can do anything. Amy Loughren - From catching a killer nurse to spiritual healing

Up until 2003, I was a lazy Buddhist and a Trauma/ ICU/ ER Nurse who inconsistently meditated, read the occasional self help book, and was too overworked to recognize or remember my gifts.  I was a single Mom, exhausted, and not seeking anything remotely resembling the metaphysical except maybe a good night's sleep with a prophetic dream.  Abruptly, on a random Tuesday, changed. In October 2003 I found out my closest friend at work was murdering people. This was a true friend I confided in, shared secrets with, and trusted with my life. I adored him.  After I helped the Detectives from the New Jersey Prosecution put him behind bars, I set out on a magical path to answer my scariest question: How the hell could I love someone so dark? The journey down the Rabbit Hole to that answer brought me face-to-face with spiritual gurus, energy healers, visionaries, and real-life, spontaneously awakened, modern day Buddhas.  I read book after book and took every workshop I could find. I had set out to heal myself and in that process, I had many Spiritually Transformative Events. I also was shown my own gifts, my own team of Spirit Guides, and surprising intuitive abilities which I effortlessly access every. single. moment. of. every. day.   I now have created a life filled with abundance, exotic travels, and beautiful relationships. My amazingly full and adventurous life was created through a deep understanding of this Matrix we live in.  I DID receive and answer to my question, and it was surprisingly beautiful and simple. The answer appeared loudly during an energy healing session. “Without being inspired by the intense darkness, I would not have been open to receiving all that this physical/spiritual Realm had to offer me.” ‘The darkness in him was also in me and it was leading me to the light within this world.’ I am now a Reiki Master, a Hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner, Meditation Instructor, DreamSculptor Practitioner, Reconnective Healer, Integrative Energy Healer, Past Life Regressionist, Crystal Language Reader, Medical Intuitive, and learned "The Work" from Byron Katie.  Pulling from dozens of different learned modalities and my own special access to the other Realms, I now help others develop a unique Guidance Plan for deeper connections.  SOCIALS: Website: https://www.amythegoodnurse.com/ https://www.amythegoodnurse.com Website: https://www.mostimportantpatient.com/ Insta: Amy Loughren Ridgeway @amythegoodnurse https://www.instagram.com/amythegoodnurse/ ENJOY THE VISUAL HERE ON YOUTUBE https://youtu.be/Rnvt3AbrAZE

Kerryn Vaughan - The importance of time out

Time out is critical. It’s way too easy to hustle and grind and think we have to live up to the expectations of other people. Nothing could be further from the truth. You can succeed and achieve amazing things, even if you take the time to rejuvenate and take care of yourself. It’s that old oxygen mask analogy in play here. Put yours on first or you won’t be able to help anybody else.

Kerryn Vaughan - Rethinking Rats

Let’s rethink rats. There are still around 110 million active landmine around the world, and detecting and destroying them is not a cheap or easy process, partly due to the weight and inefficiency of humans. Rats on the other hand, are extremely efficient at detecting landmines and other explosives and are being used around the world to help return land to local communities. The organisation leading the way with rats is APOPO https://apopo.org. Not only can the rats detect TNT, they are also used to detect tuberculosis and are now being trained for search and rescue, to detect people trapped under rubble.

As well as how impactful it can be when you bring your whole self to work and truly invest in loving those around you.

Jaimi Magyari - Songwriting with a healing twist

ANISHINAABE, MUSIC COMPOSER, MULTI-MUSICIAN Growing up in a musical household, Jaimi was singing before she was talking; and it was only a matter of time before she picked up an instrument of her own. At the age of four, her father brought home a mini keyboard, and she immediately started training her ear and taught herself how to play. When she was 12, Jaimi had asked to learn how to play guitar as well. As she grew older, she taught herself how to play more instruments, and write music. One late night out, Jaimi was at a concert with one of her friends who was going through a rough time with her partner at the time. Her friend told her that she felt like the villain because her partner kept playing the victim card all the time, and said she was tired of it and SHE wanted to be the victim for once when she ends the relationship. Jaimi thought about it, and said that she didn’t have to settle for being either the villain OR the victim, she could be her own hero. A couple days later, thinking about this conversation, Jaimi sat at her piano and wrote a song for her friend, saying exactly that. Just a few weeks later, her friend ended her relationship with her toxic partner, and is now in a better place. This experience planted the idea that Jaimi could actually HELP people with her music in her mind, she just couldn’t quite figure out how. She and her husband attended a seminar called The Hero Round Table https://heroroundtable.com later that year, which included a workshop tailored towards using your talents to help people. Filling out the worksheet, an idea was formed. Jaimi was always able to write her own music to heal her own heartbreaks and celebrate her triumphs. While her friends had popular songs written by other well known artists they had connected to in their own battles, they couldn’t write their own music. But… What if Jaimi could write songs for them?  Finally, it clicked. This workshop helped form the idea that people could come to Jaimi with their own struggles to get a different perspective, to help them heal their hearts, to help them get closure, through a song tailored specifically to them. Jaimi could take their thoughts, feelings, and any phrases or questions they might have and write them a song.  It’s still new, and Jaimi is still putting everything together so she is able to make this dream into a reality, but steps are being taken every day to make this happen. There is currently a portfolio being put together while Jaimi is learning the software so there can be examples of how she uses her music to help heal the hearts of people who are struggling.  SOCIALS: Insta: Jaimi Magyari @jaico.music https://www.instagram.com/jaico.music/  FB: Jaimi Magyari https://www.facebook.com/jaimi.nicole.7/photos_by Spotify: Jaimi  https://open.spotify.com/artist/4EfeNEZkXW3MCJktJLENdH?dlsi=29d027047fa14431&fbclid=IwAR367FDIVAcV-l1BAG9C-vvWVGPfedCiSrsW9YyDou10-KHiETf3fxcwbhU&nd=1&si=mCyrCSy4R0WXRMjrFTCk9A Blurred by Jaimi (album) - https://music.apple.com/us/album/blurred/1697607052 ENJOY THE VISUAL HERE ON YOUTUBE https://youtu.be/ql-tD-n1pcE

Let’s slow down a little over this holiday break and consider the things and people we have around us to be grateful for. It’s a stressful time and people do and say some pretty ordinary things due to these conditions. We don’t have to push and shove and place huge expectations on each other. We can choose to slow down, reflect, and extend love and compassion to ourselves and those around us.

Megan Munckhof - Cleaning up with Lead n Hand

Megan Munckhof is the co-founder of Lead n Hand, and product for keeping ropes and leads looped perfectly without the tangles. The idea of Lead n Hand was dreamt up many years ago by Megan’s Dad (Darcy White) who is a farmer and contractor in Queensland.  It came about due to a need to tidy up his service vehicle and to provide a storage for all his leads and hoses. The issue of tangled ropes and cords is a problem a lot of people have, and this is what drove him to find a solution.  The handheld device is secured to your cord, hose, rope etc on one end so you will always have it handy. The size of your loops depends on the length of your cord and where you wish to store it. The ergonomic shape is suited to both left and right handers and many different sized cords etc. You simply just click your item into the Lead n Hand and keep it secure for storage.  Darcy started by making a prototype in his shed then advanced to the family kitchen, where he heated up the plastic to mould it into shape. The family toyed with many ideas about how to over engineer it, but then simplified the shape and functions to what exists today.  Megan and Darcy have gone through the process of Patenting, trademarking, and securing the design in many different countries. This has taken a long time but has been well supported by a fantastic team. Lead n Hand is an all Australian made and owned product registered with the Australian Made Campaign. Lead n Hand is very new to the market but has already received great feedback and fantastic ideas about how others are using the product for their own application, from electric car/bus leads to people with disabilities with limited hand mobility.   Megan and Darcy are excited to see the growth of Lead n Hand, and hope that people will love it as much as they do.  SOCIALS: Website: https://leadnhand.au/ FB: Lead n Hand https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61551711107782 Insta: Lead n Hand @leadnhand https://www.instagram.com/leadnhand/ ENJOY THE VISUAL HERE ON YOUTUBE https://youtu.be/HlJtcGkdH5I

Jan Clarke - Healing eating disorders with love

Jan Clarke has been a finalist in many awards across the decades. Teacher of the Year, Telstra Business Woman of the Year, and Nominated for Australian of the Year, but her proudest moment was when she pitched the Door 2 Story and won Founder of the Year in the Launch Victoria pitch event.  Jan describes herself as an ‘old lady with a startup’ but in reality she has always been telling stories, advocating on behalf of others for their voice to be heard.  A passionate advocate for people on the inside of an eating disorder ‘Insiders’, and their families on the outside, struggling to understand how to reach their loved on and be effective in supporting their recovery.   With a Master of Education, Jan is recognised Australia wide as an expert in Developmental Education with close to 40 years experience in the delivery of programs across multiple sectors. Her expertise in the field of Eating Disorders has led to opportunities to consult, coordinate and lead teams of multiple stakeholders to deliver humane, sustainable and positive outcomes for people with complex eating disorders and their families.   After a lifetime working in the Eating Disorder and Education fields,  raising 4 fabulous adults and 9 wonderful grandchildren, Jan retired to the farm to enjoy the view from her verandah.    It was Audrey who pulled on her heartstrings and got her off that porch and out of retirement.  In 2019, after 6 years of ‘evidence based’ mainstream eating disorder treatment,  the arrival of adulthood and the independence that comes with this, Audrey had relapsed and her family was in the fight of their life to save her.  For the first time in her eating disorder treatment, Audrey was given the space for her voice to be heard.  .  Working together, Audrey, her family, Jan and her treatment team supported this amazing Insider until she gained the insight, skills, strength and capacity to lead her own recovery.   In 2021, Jan pitched an idea that was novel and untested.  A program to help families and carers understand  the ‘Inside’ experience of their loves ones with eating disorders.  What was intended to be a 6 week pilot program of education, skills and support, hosted by Jan and guided through the ‘Insider’ experience, delivered unexpected outcomes.   A beautiful symbiotic relationship between Insiders and carers ‘Outsiders’ emerged.  One where both sides felt validated, understood and supported.  A relationship based on genuine connection, trust, honesty and commitment to one another was the result.   Door 2 has evolved from this original idea into a comprehensive program that is backed by research through practice informed evidence.   SOCIALS: Website: https://door2.com.au/ Insta: Door 2 - Recovery from Eating Disorders @door2eatingdisorders https://www.instagram.com/door2eatingdisorders/ Podcast: Inside Door 2 https://open.spotify.com/show/7kYOfMi3qx3R4P4CcACKcI ENJOY THE VISUAL HERE ON YOUTUBE https://youtu.be/OxnQq9QLIcw

Kerryn Vaughan - Debunking overnight success

In this episode I chat about the myth that is overnight success. If we were to imagine success as an iceberg, on the top we would see all the accolades, awards, and maybe even what we imagine that person has regarding finances. But we don’t see the stuff beneath the surface that has to happen first. The sacrifice, the tears, the rejection, and so on. We often feel the need to criticise the success of others, but perhaps before we do, we should reframe our thoughts and admire them for their persistence and courage.

Kerryn Vaughan - How to build confidence

In this episode I chat about the key ingredients to building confidence, and it’s not that hard if you’re willing to take courageous action and put in the effort to improve with practice. So many people say they are lacking in confidence and it paralyses them, so they end up doing nothing. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Of course you have to have some basic underpinning skills and knowledge, and then start messy.  We need to look at confidence in relation to our ability to take the next step, rather than our perceived inability to fulfil the big picture. Then we can conquer confidence one tiny action at a time. If you think you’re lacking confidence, this one’s for you.

In this episode I chat about the fact that humanity is becoming more mean. It’s been bothering me for quite some time as I have not really known what to do about it because the problem seems so big. But, I actually think that flooding the world with kindness is the best place to start. We often don’t and up or speak up because the perceive the outcome of doing so puts us at too much risk, but by extending kindness, we eliminate that concern and the ripple effect takes hold for the greater good.
