A three-year-old boy dressed in his favorite Spider-Man suit was playing with his older sister at his grandmother’s house. The home, in Kendall, New South Wales, Australia was in the woods and offered plenty of space for little William Tyrell to run around. But when his mother popped into the house to make a cup of tea, the delighted shrieks stopped, replaced by an eerie silence. William was gone.

What followed on the morning of September 12, 2014, would become the largest search in Australia’s history. After extensive searches, and hundreds of interviews, police had a theory of the case. However, recent developments have made everyone question what they believe they know about the case of William Tyrrell. So what really happened to the little boy in the Spider-Man suit?
