đď¸ Episode 50 Alert! Unveiling "The Days: Lessons from Fukushima" Join us for a riveting discussion on Episode 50 as we delve into the captivating world of "The Days"! Co-hosted by the brilliant Dr. Iain Butterworth and yours truly, we're about to decode the art of navigating complexity, uncertainty and pressure in leadership. "The Days" on Netflix takes us back to the profound events of the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster. While critics might have labeled it as 'too respectful" and 'lacking drama,' we beg to differ. Our conversation taps into the goldmine of insights it offers for leaders and organisations striving to thrive amidst high-stakes challenges. Witness the clash of cultural dynamics, where deference to company leadership meets the grit of risk mitigation, all against the backdrop of catastrophic events unfolding over seven fateful days. Our fascination lies in dissecting the intricate behaviors portrayed, mirroring the colossal pressure that employees endured in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. These lessons echo far beyond the silver screen, resonating with the intricacies of AI-induced complexities and the essence of effective leadership amid organisational ambiguity.

With guest Warrick Peel we explore the organizational imperative to respond to Climate Change and how organisational thinking and action is intersecting with community level thinking, and how innovation and start-ups are critical to solving some of the wicked problems we face around climate change. Some of the standouts are Atlassian and Canva, making a big impact on climate change action. We discuss how governments and corporations can do more to support and enable actions that take us closer to next zero. Warrick explains carbon pricing and trends in the carbon market and states that most large corporations will have 100s of millions in carbon liability - e.g. AGL posted they have a 600million annual liability - addressing this liability requires purchasing carbon credits or directly investing in renewables to get to net zero. . Warrick warns that solutions arenât being implemented quick enough and at the scale we need them to be. âMother Earth will continue beyond 2100 but I don't think humans willâ, he bemoans. His call to action is about thinking differently - the message is about saving ourselvesâŚ, and saving our relationship with the planet.
