About
On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Graham from 13 Goats who have some badass music Pipeman is excited to share with you.

Pipeman and Graham start by agreeing on their thoughts around genre’s and not being boxed into one label. Graham talks about how metal is about freedom of expression and the irony of people strictly sticking to one micro-genre when that’s not what it’s all about. Graham also talks about the transfer of resources from the artists to the people who own the platforms, which causes artists to pigeonhole themselves.

Talking about the big 4 metal genre’s, Graham explains to us how thrash metal bands didn’t call themselves thrash metal and how it was the record companies which created the label to sell the commercially viable bands.

Continuing with the talk on genre, Pipeman brings up 13 Goats latest album, Servants of the Outer Dark, in which they explore a wide variety of themes and genres, as well as lyrics. Graham explains how with him being Ukrainian, along with his fellow Russian and Armenian band members, they felt pressure to write about the current political situation in Eastern Europe, however don’t want to be attached to one particular moment in history.

You can check out the guys on bandcamp by searching 13 Goats, which is a great way to support the band. The new album came out on July 1st so that is available now to purchase or stream. You can check them out on Instagram and Facebook @13.goats. If you’re interested in touring with them or working with them, be sure to reach out to them as they’re always looking to collaborate and create
