The Defend our Democracy Movement launched a national civil society campaign called Election Watch from last year. Election Watch is aimed at observing and pronouncing on the integrity of the upcoming 2024 elections in South Africa. This year marks 30 years of democracy and in the last three decades and we have seen positive change, development and transformation, but also failure: state capture, corruption, unemployment and poor service delivery. The 2024 elections will be the most contested yet; as a result we want organisations and ordinary people to come together to protect the integrity and credibility of the elections.
