He was just one of the many great detectives that worked for the Pinkerton National Detective Agency. Then we have some crazy stories sent in by you. Featured Story - Alan Pinkerton Our featured story is titled Alan Pinkerton and comes from the OTR series Cavalcade of America. The series documented historical events and was initially broadcast on radio from 1935 to 1953 on CBS. The story takes us back to a time of great turmoil and uncertainty, just before the outbreak of the American Civil War. Amidst the rising tensions, a plot to assassinate President-elect Abraham Lincoln was uncovered. Alan Pinkerton, then head of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, was entrusted with the daunting task of protecting Lincoln's life. It first aired on February 13, 1939.
