Hour 1

We started with the report from the Athletic and Diana Russini saying the Jets wanted to start Zach Wilson at QB this week but he told them he’s reluctant to play because he doesn’t want to get hurt. Then Rob Saleh held a press conference saying that Zach said he wants the ball and wants to play this weekend. Saleh also said he’s not yet ready to make a decision on who will start at QB. Then Joe Benigno went on with Evan & Tiki and revealed ridiculous text messages he sent to Saleh that Saleh then responded to. Boomer wonders who is leaking this information to reporters. Boomer said it was unprofessional for Joe to read those texts on the air, but he also can’t believe Saleh gives Joe the information. Gio thinks there’s a pretty good chance Joe misinterpreted one of the texts. Jake Browning put on an incredible performance for the Bengals last night in an overtime win in Jacksonville. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and has all the audio from Rob Saleh talking about rumors that Zach Wilson didn’t want to play anymore this season. Jerry also has audio of Joe B on with Evan and Tiki talking about his text messages to Rob Saleh. Boomer is flabbergasted that Joe B is on the air misinterpreting text messages. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about Aaron Rodgers talking to Zach Wilson and telling him to play when the Jets ask him to play. Boomer said it’s embarrassing if you’re a player on the Jets and you hear your coach is texting with some ‘bozo’ about the team. 

Hour 2

Gio said if he were Aaron Rodgers he would ask Rob Saleh if he’s going to text Joe Benigno if he throws 3 picks in a game? How can Rodgers trust him at this point? Gio compared Boomer & Frank Reich’s relationship to Benigno and Saleh. Gio said if you are making a pros and cons list for keeping Rob Saleh, what would you put in the pro column? Gio said he wouldn’t tell Joe anything in private because he can’t help telling other people. Boomer thinks this Benigno stuff is going to ‘do in’ Rob Saleh. Jerry is here for his update but first Joe Benigno called in to defend himself. He said he misinterpreted a text where he thought Rob Saleh didn’t like Zach Wilson. Jerry has audio from Saleh’s press conference about Zach yesterday. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the decorations in the studio and Doug in East Islip sent a large hat with the B&G logo

Hour 3

Aaron Rodgers will be on with Pat McAfee today, so it never ends with the Jets being in the news. We took more calls reacting to Joe Benigno’s relationship with Rob Saleh. A caller is worried about the integrity of the radio station because of Joe B. Another caller thinks texting is easy to misinterpret. Tiki Barber couldn’t handle the ‘puss move’ by Zach Wilson and said, ‘cut his ass today’. Jerry is here for another update but first Peter Schwartz does not want to wear a wrestling singlet when he does Schwartzy the snowman. We talked about Jerry getting a full time play-by-play job and also talked about Kenny Albert doing a hockey game one night, a basketball game another and an NFL game after that. Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco debated Zach Wilson not wanting to play QB again for the Jets. Was there a fart in the Lightning locker room during an interview? Yes, yes there was. In the final segment of the hour, Jake Browning put on a brilliant performance for the Bengals last night in their overtime win in Jacksonville. The Jets can ruin the Texans season if they can somehow beat them this Sunday. Greg Olsen is interested in the Carolina Panthers Head Coaching job. How he thinks he’s going to do that without ever coaching in any aspect is beyond me. There is no way the owner, David Tepper, would do that. 

Hour 4

Wally Szczerbiak backed out of Boomer & Gio Live to challenge Al to a free throw shooting contest. Hofstra Head Basketball Coach Speedy Claxton calls in to challenge Al instead. Al had no idea he played in the NBA. Jerry is here for his final update of the day and starts with audio of Rob Saleh responding to the report that Zach Wilson doesn’t want to play anymore this season. Saleh said Zach ‘wants the ball’ but he hasn’t made a decision yet on who’s starting Sunday. The Bengals beat the Jags in OT behind the great QB play of Jake Browning. The Manningcast with Kay Adams as a guest reacted to the Bengals having wide receivers throwing passes. Tua was also on and played guitar as Peyton tried to sing. Bill Belichick was on with WEEI and was asked about Rex Ryan bad mouthing the ‘Patriot way’. The Moment of The Day involved Gio’s impression of Joe Benigno misinterpreting text messages. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about how things in the city that went away are back in full force: squeegee guys, fake purses.
