We can’t live a holy life by ourselves, it’s Christ in us that gives us the ability. The cross was the chastisement of God on Jesus for us and our salvation. Therefore the cross we have to take is the chastisement of God upon us in order to walk a holy and victorious life. The cross is the only way to deal with sin.
