God is intimately aware of the pain we experience; His heart is saddened by it. Even though His ways do not make sense to us at times, His compassionate love never wavers as He works all things out for our good.

Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth;

Just as a father has compassion on his children,
 so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust. - Psalm 103:13-14 NASB 1995
