Top brass at the University of Florida College of Medicine fast-tracked the hiring of Dr. Joseph Ladapo, knowing that Governor Ron DeSantis was eyeing him for the position of state surgeon general, according to emails obtained by the USA TODAY Network-Florida. They reportedly knew that Ladapo had the backing of U-F President Kent Fuchs, Provost Joe Glover, and U-F Board of Trustees Chairman Mori Hosseini — a GOP fundraiser and DeSantis supporter. The whirlwind courtship began in early September and lasted two weeks from start to finish, as the college’s deans vetted Ladapo, found a place for him in the college's division of internal medicine, and sent him the job application link, Tallahassee Democrat reports.
