The public defender for the man accused in the September 5th killing of a North Lakeland family is trying again to squash a state subpoena for her client's medical records, arguing that new evidence shows investigators already took vials of the suspect's blood, the Lakeland Ledger reports. Authorities say Bryan Riley was wounded in a shootout with law enforcement the morning four members of a family were killed. He received treatment at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center shortly afterward. On September 28th, four days after the state said it intended to seek the death penalty in Riley’s case, a judge denied the defense’s request to void the subpoena for Riley’s medical records from Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.
