About
Publix Pharmacy has installed drug-disposal kiosks in select pharmacies in five states, including Florida, for customers to dispose of leftover or expired prescription medications, the Lakeland Ledger reports. Publix is the latest among pharmacy retailers and health care providers to encourage consumers to properly dispose of medicines to prevent misuse or abuse, as well as to reduce the environmental impact. There are 105 kiosks available at Publix Pharmacy locations in Florida. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, using a take-back program is the best way to dispose of unused or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines.
