Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo explained on social media Tuesday that he can't QUOTE "communicate clearly" UNQUOTE when QUOTE "half of my face is covered." UNQUOTE Ladapo posted a statement on his Twitter feed that he was saddened by state Senator Tina Polsky's cancer diagnosis, and had tried to find a way to accommodate her concerns without wearing a mask when he met with her recently ahead of confirmation hearings, the Tallahassee Democrat reports. Also on Tuesday, Reverend Dr. R.B. Holmes Jr., a Black Republican minister who's head of a statewide effort to get people of color vaccinated against COVID-19, spoke at a press conference and urged civil rights leaders and others to denounce Governor Ron DeSantis, Surgeon General Ladapo, and Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran.
