Bible verse Emphasis:-
 " Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face. "Psalm 5: 8.

The term for the word "lead" in Hebrew refers to lead, to guide, transport, bestow, bring, govern, guide, lead (forth), put, and straiten.

So, when King David prayed in the morning saying "Lead me, O LORD," he was saying;

~ bestow upon me your righteousness (gift of righteousness), Rom 5:17 "For if, through one man, death ruled because of that man’s offense, how much more will those who receive such overflowing grace and the gift of righteousness rule in life because of one man, Jesus the Messiah!"

~ bring me / transport me in your righteousness as I journey through today by implication he prayed for God to escort and accompany him,

~ govern me in Your righteousness means O LORD let your righteousness serve as a precedent or deciding principle for me always. Let Your righteousness control, direct, and/or strongly influence my actions and conduct always. Let your righteousness preside over me and refrain me from every path contrary to the righteousness of God.

~ guide me in your righteousness means let Your righteousness provide me with guiding information as I carry out my daily activities in the presence of my enemies.

~ put in me your righteousness that is, O LORD press, force, or impose the acceptance of Your righteousness upon me. It shows how desperate and intentional King David was about being led in the righteousness of God daily. He was not ignorant of the desires of the sensual & carnal man, who would know what is right and still choose to do the wrong thing.

‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:15‭-‬25‬ ‭TPT‬‬
[15] I’m a mystery to myself,  for I want to do what is right, but end up doing what my moral instincts condemn. [16] And if my behavior is not in line with my desire, my conscience still confirms the excellence of the law. [17] And now I realize that it is no longer my true self doing it, but the unwelcome intruder of sin in my humanity. [18] For I know that nothing good lives within the flesh of my fallen humanity. The longings to do what is right are within me, but willpower is not enough to accomplish it.   [19] My lofty desires to do what is good are dashed when I do the things I want to avoid. [20] So if my behavior contradicts my desires to do good, I must conclude that it’s not my true identity doing it, but the unwelcome intruder of sin hindering me from being who I really am. [21] Through my experience of this principle, I discovered that even when I want to do good, evil is ready to sabotage me. [22] Truly, deep within my true identity, I love to do what pleases God. [23] But I discern another power operating in my humanity, waging a war against the moral principles of my conscience and bringing me into captivity as a prisoner to the “law” of sin—this unwelcome intruder in my humanity. [24] What an agonizing situation I am in! So who has the power to rescue this miserable man from the unwelcome intruder of sin and death?   [25] I give all my thanks to God, for his mighty power has finally provided a way out through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One! So if left to myself, the flesh is aligned with the law of sin, but now my renewed mind is fixed on and submitted to God’s righteous principles.

~ straiten me in Your righteousness- hem me in (confine me) in Your righteousness. As we become more aware of God's righteousness confining us we become more and more deficient in the practice of the works of the flesh. When we are straitened in & by the righteousness of the LORD we will be delivered from enemies that straiten visions & purposes. The righteousness of the LORD delivers from every interference and limitation to fulfillment of purpose.
