Scam Tracker Risk Report kicks off National Consumer Protection Week---March 3-9th-and the Scam Track Risk Report is released.
Week is devoted to informing consumers of their rights and educating the public about scam and ID Theft Prevention.
According to a new report from BBB, investment scams, including those involving cryptocurrency, are now the riskiest scam type. More than 80% of people targeted by this scam typed reported losing money to BBB Scam Tracker. It also had the 2nd highest median dollar loss at $3,800.
Jessie explains the many forms—including pressure to purchase, trade or store digital assets (cryptocurrency) with fraudulent exchanges. Investment and Cryptocurrency scams appeared among the ten riskiest scams in 2023.
Employment scam reports remained the 2nd riskiest scam type in 2023—reports increased 54.2% from the year before. Employment scams had a median dollar loss of $1995—higher than the overall median dollar loss of $100 reported for all scam types.
Teri Schmidt---Experience Sioux Falls and Kip Rounds SD Game Fish and Parks—gave us a recap on the first weekend of March---and what they are seeing moving forward.
3500 or was it 3700 ---what ever the final number is---it’s a new record---and even with facilities not holding enough bodies for 2027---Sioux Falls could be the player. We’ll hear the thoughts---the hopes and where we go to move forward for future years.

Heard John Gaskins using every ounce of energy for State Tournament Play by Play on Thursday----#1 almost lost to #8----and others showed it is an event where kids will be kids---and the fans are loving it—though hating it when they come up just short. Should be an interesting segment---
We close the show with Diana Patterson---Sanford Career Opportunities. Help is needed if we are to stay healthy—and we appreciate all that they do—they offer as well as other Health centers in our coverage area.
