When you think of a great leader, do you view them as someone who is authentic? When you lead, are you leading with authenticity? What is authentic leadership? 

According to a 2013 article in Forbes magazine, authentic leaders are genuine and self-aware. They are aware of their strengths and limitations. They are also mission driven and focused on results, not their ego, money or power. An authentic leader will nurture individuals and the company with hard work and patience, focusing on the long-term. And an authentic leader will lead with their heart, and isn’t afraid to connect with their employees with vulnerability, empathy and directness. 

There are many ways to lead, and oftentimes we only consider “leadership” in the business world, but you are a leader in your home and community as well. 

Be an authentic leader; with a heart.
