A long time ago in a galaxy far far away…. " is the open sesame that anchored the saga in the world of fairy tales. In this panel, LucasFilles, the first all-female French-speaking Star Wars YouTube podcast, will revisit the many parallels between traditional folk tales and the space saga we grew up on. Between scenes and plots, dialogues and visuals straight out of the pages of classic beloved storybooks and Easter eggs or nods to Disney's adaptations, there is a rich source material to highlight that is even more relevant since LucasFilms became DLF. Dealing with issues like coming of age, initiation, family and romance, this panel will also question the trope of love and happy endings which seem to have been subverted in Star Wars as well as in recent Disney movies. One of the reasons why Star Wars has such universal appeal and will endure through the years is because it has uniquely distilled the symbolic, dreamlike aspects of fairy tales that are deeply rooted in the human psyche and will always appeal to the child in all of us.
Special Thanks to Karell ( Art of Codaleia) for recording this panel.
