Accusations that Fianna Fáil is abusing its majority on Offaly County Council to reserve powerful chairmanships for its own members are being branded as "a political stunt to stay in the headlines".
Independent councillor Seán O'Brien claims Fianna Fáil reneged on an agreement among Tullamore Municipal District rep to rotate the role of cathaoirleach, with an opposition councillor to take up the role this year.
