This week on Bass Fishing for Noobs, we welcome back David Swendseid to the podcast. David is an RnD Specialist and manager for Duo Realis, and fishes professionally on the Apex Pro Tour, a televised bass tour out west. We last had David on the show in July of 2020 and dove deep into spybaits.

David starts by filling us in on what he's been up to since we last talked, talks a bit about where his love for fishing originated, and introduces us to the Apex Tour. Sean and David talk a bit about the tour, which is stacked with pros from all around the fishing industry. They hold events like an 8 day tournament called the Spartan 580 where competitors actually had to fish for 8 straight days! It sounds like a tough but incredible experience.

David then spends some time refreshing us on what spybaiting is, and where it originated as well as what makes it such a special technique (for a much deeper conversation about spybaiting check out our episode with David from 2020 where we dive deep into all things spybaiting). He drops a few new tips about the technique as well!

Sean and David then switch gears a bit and talk about some new directions Duo Realis has branched out in, including introducing a few of their new soft plastics. First he shows off the wriggle crawler, a versatile worm that stands out in a very crowded field of soft plastic worms w/ flat body panels that help add motion to the bait. Next, he breaks out the Finder Shad, a bait that works great for mid-stroling, another great technique for suspended bass, which David also breaks down a bit. He then shows off a new stick bait, called the wriggle stick which is a stickbait style soft plastic that also has unique curves to its body to accentuate its movement, and talks about a ned rig version that looks great as well.
