Sven Longshanks narrates from a century old book looking at political debate around the time of emancipation.
After emancipation, there were plans put forward from both White and Black representatives for the freed Blacks to be settled on land where they could have self governance and also financial help from America to become self sufficient.
This plan was seen as beneficial to both people groups and Blacks willing to become colonisers, were to be rewarded with land, housing, equipment and training.
