As part of Radio 1190's 2020 Election Night coverage, Professor Elizabeth Eastman discusses the history of American democracy and governance and some of the other unique elections that have taken place throughout the history of the United States. In this interview, Professor Eastman discusses the beginnings of the American government, the election of 1788, the beginnings of political parties, the contested election of 1800, and more. Professor Eastman is the former Professor of Liberal Studies at Roosevelt University and California State University, and the former Professor of Political Science and History at Chapman University and Azusa Pacific University. Professor Eastman is also the 2020-2021 Senior Scholar in Residence at the University of Colorado Boulder's Bruce D. Benson Center for the Study of Western Civilization.
