Six Things That Send Us To The Cross

And He was saying to them all, " If anyone wishes to come after Me,
he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. Luke 9:23 (NASB)

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (KJV)

1. EXPECTATION
Matthew 26:33-34 Peter replied, "Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will." 34"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times." (NIV)

2. TEMPTATION
Luke 22:40-42 When He arrived at the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation." 41And He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and began to pray,42 "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done." (NASB)

3. IRRITATION
Luke 23:34 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." (NASB)

4. HUMILIATION
Matt 27:28-30 They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. 29 And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand; and they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" 30 They spat on Him, and took the reed and began to
beat Him on the head. (NASB)

5. DEVASTATION
Matthew 27:46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" that is, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?" (NASB)

6. TRANSFORMATION
Luke 23:46 And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT." Having said this, He breathed His last. (NASB)
