This week it's two spooky folktales about

First up, Felicia tells us the classic story of the Headless Horseman. She covers the short story by American Washington Irving featuring the famous Ichabod Crane. But, she also discusses the Horseman's roots in Irish and Scottish folklore, as well as the English tale Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. We, of course, talk about the Burton Sleepy Hollow and Disney'sThe Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad .

Next, Lauren takes us all the way to Canada to talk about the Ogopogo which is a lake monster rumored to inhabit Okanagan Lake in British Columbia. Its history begins in First Nations folklore where they called it the  Naitaka. Oral traditions kept the sea monster popular until Susan Allison's 1872 sighting which was the first detailed Ogopogo account from a white settler. There have been many sightings since then of the serpentine creature. Listen to hear more about the people who tried to capture it on camera!
