Yashpal's life was so full of twists, turns and intrigues that it could inspire an OTT series! Born into poverty, ridiculed by school mates but with a head full of ideals, Yashpal youth was marked with conflict and strife. It was when he met Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev in college that his life took a definitive purposeful turn and he jumped headlong into the freedom struggle, albeit of the violent kind. He became a fugitive, was betrayed by friends, did prison time, was in a shoot-out and found love that lasted him a lifetime- all this was grist for the mill for when he hung his hat and settled into a quiet life of a writer.
