The stories of partition carry in them a searing pain, a reminder to those who will bother to remember, of what we humans are capable of doing to ourselves and our own. When the lust for power blinds us, how quickly we let go of the rope of love, only to fall into the abyss of hate. The British drew the line of death on the ground,  but it is we who drew blood from our neighbor.

उर्दू लेखक, सआदत हसन मंटो (11 मई 1912 – 18 जनवरी 1955) अपने बेबाक लेखन
के लिए जाने गए. कहानियों में अश्लीलता के आरोप मंटो पर लगे और उन्हें छह
बार अदालत जाना पड़ा था, लेकिन ये आरोप कभी सिद्ध नहीं हुए.

वे अपनी लघु कथाओं, बू, खोल दो, ठंडा गोश्त और चर्चित टोबा टेकसिंह के लिए
प्रसिद्ध हुए।कहानीकार होने के साथ-साथ मंटो फिल्म और रेडिया पटकथा लेखक और
पत्रकार भी थे।

सिर्फ इक्कीस साल के लेखन में, उन्होंने बाइस लघु कथा संग्रह, एक उपन्यास,
रेडियो नाटक के पांच संग्रह, रचनाओं के तीन संग्रह और व्यक्तिगत रेखाचित्र
के दो संग्रह प्रकाशित कर डाले
