About
Kathryn interviews FranklinCovey Senior Consultant Todd Davis. In these increasingly divisive times, with ongoing layoffs, mergers, and return to office adjustments - difficult conversations are fast becoming the norm in the workplace. However, recent client interviews and workforce surveys from FranklinCovey, the global leader in leadership and professional development, found that both leaders and employees often avoid having difficult conversations or feel that they handle them poorly. In response to these results, Franklin Covey Senior Consultant Todd Davis addresses the top challenge in difficult conversations: the emotional tension. He teaches us strategies and tips for shifting mindset from the fear of difficult conversations to seeing them as the way to make progress on important issues. He has over 35 years of experience in human resources, talent development and executive recruiting.Kathryn also interviews Author Marc Houser PhD.Each year at least a billion children around the world are victims of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) that range from physical abuse to racial discrimination to neglect and food deprivation. Those dealt a hand of ACEs are more likely to drop out of school, have a shorter life, abuse substances, and suffer from myriad mental health and behavioral issues. Neurobiologist and educator Marc Hauser PhD provides a novel, research-based framework to understand a child’s unique response to ACEs that goes beyond our current understanding and is centered around the five Ts—the timing during development when the trauma began, its type, tenure, toxicity, and how much turbulence it has caused in a child’s life. He is the founder of Risk Eraser, a program that helps at-risk kids lead healthier lives. He is a former professor of evolutionary biology and psychology at Harvard University and the author of over three hundred papers.
