While serving in the U.S. Army on patrol in Afghanistan in 2011, Matt Melancon's vehicle drove over an I.E.D. He was evacuated to San Antonio where he underwent more than 18 surgeries over two years trying to put his feet back together again. Finally, thanks to meeting some civilian amputees who showed him that amputations were not the end of the world, Matt had both his legs amputated. On this show, I am bringing back a conversation I had with Matt on this day last year as we highlight his story and the work of Operation Rebound: CAF.
