Anyone travelling along rural roads this long weekend are being urged to take care.
Rural roads have higher speed limits and more hazards such as wildlife and sharp corners and dangerous surfaces.
According to Rural Doctors Association people driving on regional roads are almost five times more likely to die in an accident than in the city.
