Il y a 20 ans Matoub Lounes mourrait assassiné en Kabylie. Du statut d'icône militante adorée de la jeunesse Berbère, il passa à celui de martyre, reconnu dans le monde entier pour les risques qu'il a osé prendre.
Sa mort n'a pourtant pas fait oublier l’œuvre artistique, la richesse et la diversité des compositions et des sonorités.
Voici donc, en guise d'émission du mois Juillet, un mix retraçant sa "période vinyle" et ne représentant qu'une part infime de son œuvre, parue par la suite essentiellement sur cassette ou CD.

Matoub Lounes was killed 20 years ago in Kabylie. This murder turned the beloved berber militant icon into a martyr, renowned all around the world for his bravery.
Gone but not forgotten, the diversity of sounds in his music and the density of his compositions still live on.
For July here is a mix covering his vinyl days that shows only a tiny fraction of his art, most of his later work was published on CD or tape.
