A renewed Biodiversity Plan with a view to preventing further decline.
Plean Bithéagsúlachta athnuaite le dúil tuilleadh meatha a chosc.
RTÉ News and Current Affairs The National Biodiversity Plan has been renewed and updated for the third time from 2022 in view of the continued decline of the country's wildlife.
Nuacht agus Cúrsaí Reatha RTÉ Tá an Plean Náisiúnta Bithéagsúlachta athnuaite agus nuashonraithe den tríú huair ó 2022 i bhfianaise fiadhúlra na tíre a bheith ag meath go tréan i gcónaí.
In this fourth attempt, unlike the three previous attempts, there is a legislative basis for the updated action plan.
Sa cheathrú hiarracht seo, murab ionann agus na trí iarracht roimhe, tá bonn reachtaíochta faoin bplean gníomhaíochta nuashonraithe.
On top of that, fresh funding has been promised – up to €3 billion in fact – to better protect protected areas and to foster local wildlife enterprises, as well as other measures.
Ar a mhuin sin, tá maoiniú úr geallta – barr ar €3 bhilliún go deimhin – le fonn limistéir shainchosanta a chosaint níos fearr agus le súil fiontair áitiúla fiadhúlra a chothú, chomh maith le bearta eile.
If it's good it's not, however, and the habitats of native flowers and herbs are being steadily destroyed - the dunes, the fens, the marshes, the meadows, the bogs, the turles and so on.
Más maith is mithid, ámh, agus gnáthóga bláthanna agus luibheanna dúchasacha á scriosadh go seasta – na dumhcha, na heanaigh, na léanta, na móinéir, na portaigh, na turlaigh agus mar sin díobh.
All that without mentioning the deterioration of the woods, shores, rivers and lakes, and the birds, fish, shellfish and plants that live on them.
É sin ar fad gan trácht ar an meath atá ar na coillte, na cladaí, na haibhneacha agus na lochanna, agus ar na héin, na héisc, na sliogéisc agus na plandaí atá beo orthu.
In fact, the plan states that 85% of the State's specially protected habitats are in poor condition and that 46% of them are actually deteriorating.
Deirtear sa phlean go deimhin go bhfuil drochbhail ar 85 faoin gcéad de ghnáthóga sainchosanta an Stáit agus go bhfuil 46 faoin gcéad díobh ag meath d'acht is d'áirithe.
It is said that the decline is largely due to disorganized farming methods – industrial waste, land clearing and water pollution, for example.
Modhanna míchóiriúla feirmeoireachta is siocair leis an meath den chuid is mó, a deirtear – iníor tionslcaíoch, bánú talaimh agus truailliú uisce, cuiream i gcás.
The new plan was published under the Wildlife (Amendment) Act 2023 and there are new duties on every public institution in the State to act accordingly, including Bord Iascaigh Mara, Bord na Móna and the local authorities.
Is faoin Acht um Fhiadhúlra (Leasú) 2023 a foilsíodh an plean úr agus tá dualgais nua ar gach aon fhoras poiblí sa Stát gníomhú dá réir, lena n-áirítear Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Bord na Móna agus na húdaráis áitiúla.
Each local authority will have to draw up, update and implement their own biodiversity plan.
Beidh ar gach údarás áitiúil plean bithéagsúlachta dá gcuid féin a chur i dtoll a chéile, a nuashonrú agus a chur i ngníomh.
In this regard, more national parks will be defined and existing special protected areas will be added to.
Ina cheann sin, saineofar tuilleadh páirceanna náisiúnta agus cuirfear leis na sainlimistéir chosanta atá ann cheana féin.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service will be provided with additional resources, according to the plan, to deal with people and organizations that break the law.
Cuirfear acmhainn bhreise ar fáil don tSeirbhís Páirceanna Náisiúnta agus Fiadhúlra, de réir an phlean, le dul i ngleic le daoine agus le heagraíochtaí a sháraíonn an dlí.
Some of the recommendations made by the Citizens' Assembly for Biodiversity last year are also promised to be implemented.
